Phospholipidosis and effects of vitamin E - studies with liposomal models
Phospholipidosis (PL) has been
described as a side effect of therapies with basic lipophilic drug
compounds, e.g. desipramin. It results from the accumulation of
drug/lipid complexes within cells, in particular within lysosomes.
Vitamin E has been found to suppress and even reverse aggregate
formation.
