PharmaCalc

Pharmacokinetic Pocket Calculator

This is a new pharmacokinetic simulation program which has been released for free distribution on the Internet.

This program lets you enter the pharmacokinetic parameters of a drug. After pressing "New Curve" and (repeatedly) "Give Dose(s)" the program calculates and draws the plasma concentration curve. The basis for the simulation is a one-compartment model with first-order elimination kinetics. It is possible to draw several curves in the same graph. The curves can be differentiated by color and line style. A therapeutic range can also be indicated. The graph can be scaled automatically to display the curves nicely. Drug parameters can be read in from a file, and new parameter sets can be saved into files. This allows to easily create a library of substances for quick reference.

PharmaCalc features:

PharmaCalc is "freeware", i.e. the program is available at no charge via the Internet. You may go to the corresponding page (click below) to read about the hardware requirements and how to download the program.

PharmaCalc bases on the ideas of PharMACokinetix, a program for Apple Macintosh computers with System 7.1 or older. PharMACokinetix was designed by Arthur B. Straughn from the University of Tennessee, Memphis "ASTRAUGHN@a1.utmem.edu" and was programmed by Russel J. Rackley "russell.rackley@faulding.com.au".
